Taskmaster is back with a milestone season and a fresh lineup of contenders ready to face Greg Davies’ signature absurdity. Channel 4 has confirmed the cast for Season 20, which also marks the 10th anniversary of the BAFTA-winning format.
The new group of hopefuls stepping up to earn the Taskmaster Champion title includes Ania Magliano, Maisie Adam, Phil Ellis, Reece Shearsmith, and Sanjeev Bhaskar.
Magliano broke out with appearances on Live at the Apollo. Adam is a familiar face from A League of Their Own and other panel shows. Ellis, who created Phil Ellis is Trying, brings his left-field comedy to the mix. Shearsmith, one half of the Inside No. 9 team and a BAFTA winner, adds a darker twist. Bhaskar, known for Goodness Gracious Me and Unforgotten, rounds out the cast with his veteran presence.
Returning to preside over the chaos are Greg Davies and series creator Alex Horne, with Horne once again acting as Davies’ put-upon sidekick and task designer.
Production continues under the stewardship of executive producers Alex Horne, Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett, James Taylor, Jon Thoday, and Andy Devonshire. Devonshire also directs the series, with Andy Cartwright serving as Series Producer. Commissioning for Channel 4 was led by Tom Beck, Head of Live Events.
Since its launch in 2015, Taskmaster has gone from cult hit to international franchise, winning both BAFTAs and Rose d’Or honors. The format has been licensed in multiple territories, but its UK original remains the crown jewel.
The Season 20 launch date has not yet been confirmed.
