Ted Renewed at Peacock for Season 2

Ted Peacock

Peacock has renewed the Ted series for a second season, four months after its debut in January. The show, starring Seth MacFarlane, Max Burkholder, Scott Grimes, and Giorgia Whigham, is a prequel to the Ted movies, set in 1993. It follows the early life of Ted, a teddy bear who comes to life due to John Bennett’s wish. John, portrayed by Burkholder, deals with the mischievous antics of Ted, who is forced to attend school with him.

The series received positive reviews and became Peacock’s most-watched original series to date, ranking as the #1 original streaming comedy in the U.S. for over two months. It also performed well internationally, with strong viewership in English-speaking territories.

The success of the series has led to a change of heart for NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, as it was initially promoted as an “event series” with no plans for additional seasons. However, the acclaim and popularity have warranted a renewal, with Peacock recognizing it as their “most-watched original title to date.”

The renewal decision was not straightforward due to the high production cost and lengthy creation time associated with the show’s hybrid live-action/CGI nature. Nonetheless, Peacock prioritized retaining its biggest hit to date and ordered a second season.

Details about the second season’s release date and narrative direction have not yet been disclosed.
