BBC One’s historical drama “Ten Pound Poms” continues its second season, charting the turbulent waters travelled by British families who migrated to Australia under the assisted passage scheme. Episode 3 finds the Roberts family facing new trials as they struggle to carve out a life Down Under.
Annie Roberts, played by Faye Marsay, becomes involved with a local women’s group, hoping to find a sense of community. But her involvement takes an unexpected and unwelcome turn, threatening to disrupt the fragile stability she’s trying to build for herself and her family. Meanwhile, the relationship between Terry (Warren Brown) and Christine (Hattie Hook) intensifies.
With Michelle Keegan returning as Kate Thorne, “Ten Pound Poms” continues to explore the spectrum of human experience, from the soaring highs of hope and opportunity to the crushing lows of disappointment and cultural clashes. The Australian dream, as portrayed in the series, is far from a guaranteed paradise. It’s a complex mix of hard work, resilience, and the constant struggle to adapt to a new and often unforgiving landscape.
The series also features Stephen Curry, Nic English, Cheree Cassidy, Emma Hamilton, and Rob Collins.
“Ten Pound Poms” airs Sunday, March 23rd at 8:00 PM on BBC One.
