Michael Fassbender is back in the field. Production has officially kicked off in London on Season 2 of The Agency: Central Intelligence, the high-stakes espionage series from Paramount+ that reimagines the acclaimed French drama Le Bureau des Légendes.

Fassbender reprises his role as Martian, a deep-cover CIA operative whose personal and professional lines are increasingly blurred. The new season ups the geopolitical ante, centering on Martian’s attempt to rescue his lover Samia (Jodie Turner-Smith), a political prisoner in Sudan, even if it means burning through global alliances—and his own agency’s directives.

The returning creative team is packed with prestige firepower. Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth are back as writers and exec producers, continuing their cerebral and character-driven spin on the spy genre. George Clooney and Grant Heslov also remain onboard as EPs via Smokehouse Pictures, alongside Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, David C. Glasser, and Matthieu Louyre.

The Season 2 cast brings in heavyweight talent. In addition to Fassbender and Turner-Smith, the ensemble includes Jeffrey Wright, Katherine Waterston, Richard Gere, and more. Production is expected to continue through the summer, with a premiere date still under wraps.

The Agency: Central Intelligence is co-distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution and Federation Studios. Season 1 is available to stream now exclusively on Paramount+.
