The Assembly, a unique and insightful documentary series, premieres on ABC Australia on Tuesday, 20 August 2024, at 8.30 pm. Mentored by Leigh Sales, the show follows autistic journalism students as they interview prominent Australians.
In the first episode, the student journalists are guided by Leigh Sales as they prepare for their inaugural celebrity interview with celebrated actor Sam Neill. They cover a range of topics, seeking acting advice and reminiscences from the set of Jurassic Park, and even inquiring about his chickens.
We meet Dale, an 18-year-old student who was homeschooled for much of his life, and Evie, a 20-year-old who offers a glimpse into their unique world, providing an engaging perspective on their life with autism. Each student brings their distinct approach to the interview process while sharing personal insights into their experiences on the autism spectrum.
