Nigel Havers is back in his Edinburgh lair, presiding over a new season of The Bidding Room. The premise remains the same: hopeful sellers present their wares, hoping to charm a panel of expert dealers into parting with their cash. From quirky collectibles to family heirlooms, it’s a parade of the curious and the potentially valuable.
First up, Hamish introduces Edward, an antique mannequin who’s seen better days (or decades). Will Edward strike a pose with the dealers, or will he be dismissed as a dusty relic? Meanwhile, returning seller Gloria is back with a pair of teddy bears, hoping to raise money for charity. With dealer Adi’s known fondness for fuzzies, will a bidding war erupt?
Later, magician Will attempts to conjure up some high bids with his collection of retro magic tricks. Will the dealers be spellbound, or will his illusions fall flat? And Lauren presents a retro football game rescued from a bin – a testament to the saying, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Finally, Toni arrives with a vintage phonograph, hoping it will strike a chord with dealer Jacqui.
The Bidding Room airs Monday, January 6, 2025, at 3:45 PM on BBC One.
