The Chicken Sisters, a new original series from Hallmark, is set to premiere on the Hallmark+ streaming service on Tuesday, September 10. The show stars Schuyler Fisk, Genevieve Angelson, Lea Thompson, and Wendie Malick, with a supporting cast including James Kot, Rukiya Bernard, Ektor Rivera, and Jake Foy, and a narration by Margo Martindale.
The series centres around a generations-old feud between two families in a small town, Frannie’s and Mimi’s, and the upcoming cooking competition show, Ultimate Kitchen Clash. Amanda Moore Hillier (Fisk), who married into the family that runs Frannie’s, has a strained relationship with her mother, Augusta “Gus” Moore (Malick), who runs Mimi’s. In contrast, Amanda has found support and a sense of family with her mother-in-law, Nancy Hillier (Thompson), and her son, Frank Jr. (Kot).
Impulsively, Amanda submits both Frannie’s and Mimi’s to the Ultimate Kitchen Clash, a cooking competition show with a $100,000 prize. Host Sabrina Skye (Bernard) delivers the news that the show will be coming to Merinac, leaving Amanda stunned and panicked about how to get her mother on board. Gus eventually agrees to participate but only on one condition: Mae (Angelson), Amanda’s sister who left for New York years ago, must return to help.
Mae, facing an unexpected professional setback, makes an abrupt decision to go back to her hometown, bringing with her the big city swagger that immediately creates tension with Amanda. With both sisters back in town and childhood baggage resurfacing, they prepare for a face-off that could finally settle the long-standing feud.
The Chicken Sisters is a collaboration between Fox Entertainment, MarVista Entertainment, Lighthouse Pictures, and Busy B Entertainment. Executive producers include Annie Mebane, Bradley Gardner, Kimmy Gatewood, Shawn Williamson, Jamie Goehring, Larry Grimaldi, Ani Kevork, Hannah Pillemer, and Fernando Szew, with Gatewood directing and Mebane writing the script.
The Chicken Sisters premieres on Hallmark Plus on Tuesday, September 10.
