Robyn McCall (Queen Latifah), the enigmatic vigilante with a penchant for helping the downtrodden, is back, and this week’s case involves the murky world of online personas. In “Just Fans,” McCall finds herself searching for a woman who seems to lead a double life on the internet, and who better to assist in such an investigation than Harry Keshegian (Adam Goldberg), the team’s resident tech whiz? Yes Harry, it seems, is taking on yet another undercover role.
Meanwhile, back at HQ, Mel (Liza Lapira) is dealing with her past trauma through the surprisingly therapeutic combination of therapy and songwriting. One wonders if her lyrical creations will be introspective ballads or power anthems about taking down bad guys. Perhaps a bit of both?
It’s a common trope to have supporting characters confront their inner demons, but hopefully, Mel’s journey will offer something more than just a predictable subplot. At least Harry’s undercover antics should provide some much-needed levity.
The Equalizer: Just Fans (Season 5 Episode 3) airs Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 9:00 pm on CBS.
