Forget sugar plums, Robyn McCall is getting a stocking full of cartel trouble this holiday season. In “Slay Ride,” the upcoming episode of The Equalizer, festive cheer takes a backseat when a crime syndicate storms a hospital, turning McCall, Dante, and her ex-husband, Miles, into unwilling guests at a very dangerous Christmas party.
Of course, a little Yuletide hostage situation isn’t going to stop McCall from equalizing the odds. Expect tight corners, close calls, and enough firepower to make Santa’s sleigh look like a child’s toy. But amidst the chaos, there’s room for some relationship reckoning. The pressure cooker of captivity forces McCall and Dante to confront some simmering romantic tension — which is probably less awkward than making small talk with the ex while duct-taped to a gurney.
Elsewhere, in a subplot designed to remind us that even highly skilled operatives can be clueless in the gift-giving department, Harry continues his annual tradition of bestowing truly awful presents upon Mel.
So, if your holiday viewing leans toward high-octane action with a dash of relationship drama and a sprinkle of awkward comedy, The Equalizer’s “Slay Ride” might just be the explosive eggnog you’ve been craving. Just don’t expect any heartwarming carols.
