Lifetime continues its true crime focus with “Searching for a Serial Killer: The Regina Smith Story,” premiering November 9 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. Karrueche Tran stars as Regina Smith, a rookie Dallas police officer instrumental in the hunt for Charles Albright, known as “The Eyeball Killer.”
The film follows Smith’s pursuit of Albright, played by Ted Cole, a serial killer notorious for surgically removing his victims’ eyes. Working alongside her partner, Eddie (Blair Penner), Smith’s determination to bring Albright to justice becomes paramount. As a single mother, Smith’s drive to make the world a safer place for her daughter fuels her relentless investigation.
The movie portrays Smith’s challenges working in a male-dominated field, facing resistance from the FBI and city homicide detectives. Her search for evidence leads her dangerously close to Albright.
“Searching for a Serial Killer” is written and executive produced by Benjamin Anderson and Conor Allyn, directed by Wendy Ord, and produced by Darren Robson. Howard Braunstein also serves as an executive producer.
