THE FIRM: Sneak Peek of BBC’s Gripping Legal Docuseries – This October on BBC Scotland

The new BBC factual series, The Firm, will premiere on BBC Scotland and iPlayer next month, and the BBC has released the first official image from the show.
What is The Firm about
The groundbreaking show follows the exploits of Aamer Anwar, a lawyer and activist known on a global scale for his dedication to defending the rights of the marginalised and bringing about social change through the legal system.
In many ways, The Firm is like a real-life adaptation of the popular American legal drama Suits, with the exception that instead of New York City, it is set in Glasgow, where Aamer’s company is based.
In The Firm’s eight episodes, we watch as Aamer tackles his busiest year yet. Aamer is representing the Scottish Covid Bereaved at the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry and the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, the two largest public inquiries in British history, as well as the family of Sheku Bayoh, who has been called “Scotland’s George Floyd,” at the public inquiry into his death in police custody.
But The Firm also delves into Aamer’s private life and the trauma that drives him, as well as his close relationship with his three children, all while he is under intense public scrutiny. It also exemplifies the teamwork of his dedicated group of individuals who share a common mission of standing up to injustice wherever it may be found.
Who is making the series
The Firm will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC Scotland in October. STV Studios makes the show for BBC Scotland. David Harron, the BBC Scotland Commissioning Executive, is responsible for commissioning the project. Craig Hunter, the Creative Director of Factual at STV Studios, and Joe Sharp are the show’s Executive Producers.
