The Floor: “Everyone Is a Target” (FOX, Wednesday, December 11, 2024)

Sixteen trivia warriors remain, but in the world of FOX’s The Floor, that’s just 15 too many. This Wednesday, the brightly-lit quiz-show battleground overseen by Rob Lowe ratchets up the tension as the penultimate episode of season two arrives. With a quarter of a million dollars on the line, “Everyone Is a Target” lives up to its ominous title.

The central gimmick of The Floor – a giant LED grid where contestants claim territory by winning trivia duels – remains, but the element of surprise gets a boost this week. The dreaded “randomizer” returns, meaning no player is safe from a challenge. Imagine the pressure: You’ve just conquered Medieval Times, feeling like King Arthur of Trivia, only to be immediately thrust into a sudden death match about College Mascots. (And let’s be honest, distinguishing between Bucky Badger and the Stanford Tree under pressure is no easy feat).

This week’s categories offer a mix of the familiar and the potentially bewildering: Standup Comedians, British Invasion, and, of course, the aforementioned Medieval Times and College Mascots. For viewers, it’s a chance to test their own knowledge – or at least marvel at the contestants’ ability to recall obscure facts under duress. As always, the core gameplay remains the same: winners take over their opponent’s square on the floor, while losers are unceremoniously eliminated. The last player standing, the one who controls the entire floor, takes home the substantial cash prize.

Will a trivia master emerge, or will the randomizer wreak havoc, leaving a trail of shattered dreams and misidentified mascots? Only Wednesday night’s episode will determine who can handle the heat and who will be swept off The Floor.

The Floor airs Wednesday, December 11 from 9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT on FOX.
