The Great Australian Bake Off is back for its eighth season, premiering on Foxtel on 18 September. The show will once again feature the talents of 12 diverse amateur bakers as they compete for the title of Australia’s Best Amateur Baker.
The new season will follow the familiar format, with each episode presenting three themed baking challenges: Signature, Technical, and Showstopper. Judges Rachel Khoo and Darren Purchese will assess the creations, naming a Star Baker and eliminating one contestant each week until the ultimate winner is crowned.
The premiere episode, titled “Cake Week,” will see the bakers take on a Signature Pull Apart Cake, Darren’s Passionfruit Chiffon Cake in the Technical challenge, and an Epic Birthday Cake for the Showstopper.
This season holds special significance as it pays tribute to the late comedian Cal Wilson, who completed four episodes before her passing. With her family’s support, these episodes will air as a tribute to her contribution to the series.
The Great Australian Bake Off is produced by BBC Studios Productions Australia for Foxtel Originals, based on the original format created by Love Productions and licensed by BBC Studios.
