The History Channel is debuting a brand-new documentary series, The Icons That Built America, on June 23, 2024. This seven-part series looks at groundbreaking entertainers and their transformative impact on American popular culture.

The series premieres on June 23 and will explore the lives and careers of those who dared to challenge conventions and push boundaries, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural landscape. Among the featured icons are the fearless daredevil Evel Knievel, martial arts legend and actor Bruce Lee, boundary-pushing comedian Richard Pryor, controversial radio personality Howard Stern, and the revolutionary hip-hop group N.W.A.

Each episode of this documentary series will take a deep dive into the stories of these innovators, uncovering their visionary ideas, the challenges they faced, and their journey to becoming cultural icons.

Executive produced by National Baseball Hall of Famer Derek Jeter, “The Icons That Built America” celebrates the risk-takers and trailblazers who changed the game. Jeter, a baseball star turned actor and producer, is known for his work both on the field and in front of the camera, including appearances in “The Other Guys” and “Anger Management.”
