The Irrational “Anatomy of a Fall”

The Irrational Key Art

Alec Mercer, that ever-reliable behavioral science guru, returns to NBC to tackle yet another mind-bending case. This time, he’s facing a potential suicide contagion sweeping through a college campus in “Anatomy of a Fall,” the fifth episode of “The Irrational” season two. After a third student death, Alec’s mother, clearly recognizing her son’s unique skill set (and perhaps his lack of a bustling social calendar), nudges him to look into the seemingly linked tragedies.

Never one to take things at face value, Alec (Jesse L. Martin) suspects a deeper, more complicated plot is afoot. He recruits Marisa (Maahra Hill), his trusted colleague, to help unravel the truth. Because what’s a good behavioral science mystery without a dash of teamwork? While Alec and Marisa chase down clues, Phoebe (Molly Kunz), ever grappling with the vagaries of a career path, ponders her next move. This subplot, no doubt intended to add some “relatable” drama, will likely resonate with anyone who’s ever stared blankly at a LinkedIn job posting.
