So, Thanksgiving’s leftovers have finally gone bad, which can only mean one thing: It’s time to start stressing about Christmas dinner. Luckily, Food Network’s The Kitchen is back this Saturday to provide some much-needed holiday culinary guidance — or at least a temporary distraction from the inevitable family drama.
This week, the crew tackles the daunting task of crafting a full holiday spread, offering recipes aimed at impressing even the most discerning of festive foodies. Katie Lee Biegel apparently wants to ensure your cocktails look as good as they taste, demonstrating some unique DIY holiday ice cubes, because regular ice is clearly far too pedestrian for December. Biegel also offers up a Festive Shrimp Toast recipe, presumably to keep guests occupied while you’re frantically trying to perfect Mauro’s beef tenderloin.
Speaking of which, Jeff Mauro is on hand to tackle the main course, sharing his method for a Horseradish-Crusted Beef Tenderloin. Because nothing says “holiday cheer” quite like a hefty slab of meat slathered in sinus-clearing condiment. But if you’re looking for something slightly less demanding, Sunny Anderson’s Easy Loaded Baked Potato Casserole provides a comforting, if slightly less glamorous, alternative to mashed potatoes. And finally, to ensure the meal ends on a suitably sweet note, Geoffrey Zakarian completes the feast with a decadent Chocolate Pots de Crème. It’s rich, it’s chocolatey, and it’ll probably send everyone into a sugar-induced coma — the perfect end to any successful family gathering.
The Kitchen airs Saturday, December 7th at 11am on Food Network.
