The Late Show with Stephen Colbert welcomes U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg to the show. Buttigieg, the first openly gay person confirmed to serve in a president’s Cabinet, previously served two terms as mayor of his hometown, South Bend, Indiana.
As Secretary of Transportation, he has focused on building a world-leading transportation system with an emphasis on safety, jobs, equity, and climate. He has also worked on re-organizing the department’s internal policy structure, reinstating an Obama-era pilot program that ensures local hiring for public works projects to help minorities and disadvantaged individuals.
American rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer Chance the Rapper will also be on the show. Born Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, he gained mainstream recognition in 2013 with the release of his second mixtape, Acid Rap. His third mixtape, Coloring Book, won Best Rap Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, making it the first streaming-only album to win a Grammy.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs Wednesday, August 21, 2024, on CBS.
