The Masked Singer, the popular singing competition series, returns for its twelfth season on FOX, premiering on Wednesday, 25 September. The new season introduces original theme nights, celebrating iconic franchises, artists, and pop culture milestones.
The season will feature tribute nights dedicated to Mattel’s Barbie, commemorating its 65th anniversary, and the film Footloose on its 40th anniversary. The show will also include fan-favourite themes like “Soundtrack of My Life” and “Thanksgiving Night,” along with new themes like “Sports Night,” “60’s Night,” and “Who Are You Fest.”
The themes will influence various aspects of the show, from the performers’ song choices and costumes to special celebrity guests and set design, providing a wealth of clues for viewers and the panel. This season also introduces Masked Ambassadors, celebrity alums of the series, who will offer additional clues about the singers’ identities.
The Masked Singer is produced by FOX Alternative Entertainment, with Rosie Seitchik, Craig Plestis, and Nick Cannon serving as executive producers. The series is based on the South Korean format created by Mun Hwa Broadcasting Corp.
