Misty, a 22-year-old described as a “carefree spirit,” was abducted and murdered in Brevard County, Florida, on July 20, 2000. The case unfolds with initial suspicions falling on Misty’s boyfriend, Bobby Cooper, and an ex-lover, Teddy Underwood. However, the focus quickly shifts as investigators uncover a secret love affair and use advanced techniques, including pet DNA analysis and a procedure known as degloving, to identify the perpetrator.
Evidence mounts against Misty’s ex-boyfriend, Brent Robert Huck, as officers find similar duct tape and plastic bags in his home. Hairs recovered from his Rottweiler-German Shepherd mix dog, a gift from Misty, are sent for DNA analysis. The investigation also leads to the discovery of similar rope near Huck’s parents’ home, further implicating him in the murder. Despite this compelling circumstantial evidence, prosecutors face the challenge of building a solid case against the prime suspect.
