The Secret World of Children makes its debut on Channel 5 on Sunday night, offering a unique perspective on how children navigate adult situations.
In the first episode, a group of children is given their first taste of the working world, taking on roles at a market. Maxwell, Osa, and Lily lend a hand at a sweet stall, while Harrison, Ben, and Alexis assist at a fruit and veg stall, encountering an unusual customer.
After their shift, the children embark on a shopping spree to purchase ‘posh’ outfits for a dining experience at upscale restaurants. While Maxwell and Osa excel at choosing their attire, Lily struggles to find something that aligns with her unique fashion sense, moving her mother to tears.
The dining adventure presents intriguing challenges. Harrison and Alexis boldly tackle escargot at a French restaurant, but Ben firmly refuses to partake. A surprise awaits them in the form of an inflated bill, and it is Ben’s keen observation that saves the day.
Meanwhile, Maxwell, Lily, and Osa opt for a tapas restaurant, where they encounter a surprising dish—squid! Despite their initial reactions, the children bravely taste it, with Maxwell’s gag reflex kicking in. The dessert course brings another test: tackling a shared plate of strong cheese and limited ice cream.
