The show, based on the book “Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France” by Leonie Frieda, follows the life of Catherine de Medici, one of the most powerful and longest-serving rulers in French history.
The second season is set to premiere in the summer of 2024, continuing the story of Catherine’s reign and her ambition to modernize France. The show’s creator, Justin Haythe, has expressed his intention to explore Catherine’s journey from her attempts at religious tolerance to the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre, promising a compelling narrative arc.
