“The Traitors” is back and watching people politely accuse each other of Machiavellian scheming while nibbling biscuits is exactly what the nation needs to kick off the new year. Fine. I’ll bite. Season 3 of the BBC’s breakout deception-fest arrives Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 8 PM on BBC One and iPlayer, bringing with it a fresh batch of contestants ready to backstab, lie, and generally make each other miserable in the pursuit of up to £120,000. Check out the confirmation teaser below.
For those unfamiliar with the format, “The Traitors” plays out like a particularly polite version of “Among Us,” mixed with a dash of “Big Brother” and maybe a soupçon of “Cluedo.” A group of contestants, designated “Faithful,” must complete challenges to add money to the prize pot while simultaneously trying to ferret out the “Traitors” secretly selected by host Claudia Winkleman. These Traitors pick off the Faithful one by one, all while maintaining a facade of innocence. If the Faithful can correctly identify and eliminate all the Traitors, they share the pot. If even one Traitor remains at the end, the Traitors take all.
This year’s premiere offers a double dose of paranoia, as the show takes over the 8 PM slot for both Wednesday, January 1 and Thursday, January 2, before settling into its regular 9 PM slot for the remainder of the run. Episodes will continue to air Wednesday through Friday, so clear your schedules and prepare for three nights a week of social deduction.
Of course, no reality TV show is complete without a companion podcast, and “The Traitors” is no exception. Ed Gamble returns to host “The Traitors: Uncloaked,” offering post-episode analysis, interviews, and presumably a lot of bewildered laughter. “Uncloaked” will air on BBC Two and iPlayer directly after each episode of “The Traitors,” with an extended cut hitting BBC Sounds for those who simply can’t get enough traitor talk.
The Traitors airs Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 9 PM on BBC One and iPlayer (with the first two episodes airing at 8 PM). “The Traitors: Uncloaked” follows on BBC Two, iPlayer, and BBC Sounds.
