“The View” is taking a slightly unorthodox approach to Thanksgiving week programming this year. Executive producer Brian Teta, speaking on the “Behind the Table” podcast (yes, that’s a real thing), laid out the plan: a mix of fresh-baked (but pre-taped) new episodes and reheated leftovers (reruns, if you’re not picking up the subtle metaphor).
For those who organize their lives around Joy Behar’s one-liners and Whoopi Goldberg’s pronouncements, here’s the breakdown. Leading up to the big feast, “The View” will serve up some new, pre-recorded content. However, come Turkey Day and Black Friday, expect a rerun buffet. Apparently, even the relentlessly opinionated hosts of “The View” need a break from hot topics and heated debates to, you know, digest.
This scheduling shuffle grants the entire cast, including Behar, Goldberg, and the rest of the roundtable regulars, a full week off. They’ll be back in their swivel chairs, live and in person, starting Monday, December 2, 2024.
For Goldberg, the time off might be particularly welcome as she gears up for her upcoming role in the Broadway musical “Annie.” Broadway divas need their beauty rest, after all.
This year everyone at “The View” is opting for a full plate of family time instead of the usual hot takes and heated discussions. Whether this leads to a more relaxed or more restless return on December 2nd…well, that’s a hot topic for another day.
“The View” airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC. Please check your local Thanksgiving listings. Preemptions for holiday programming may apply to your local affiliate station during this time.
