The Voice Season 26 Episode 5 Recap: “The Knockouts, Part 3”

The Voice Season 26 Key Art

So, the Knockouts concluded on The Voice, and while it’s usually a time for tough choices and broken dreams, this season’s final Knockout round felt a bit like a birthday party for Michael Bublé. Not that there weren’t tears and triumphs, but let’s be honest, the real drama is saved for the live shows.

Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, and Snoop Dogg wrapped up their final Knockout pairings. Reba, bless her heart, couldn’t resist saving Danny Joseph after his loss to Lauren-Michael Sellers. Gwen, ever the softie, saved Jan Dan after he didn’t make it past Sydney Sterlace, adding a fresh face to Team Gwen’s Playoffs roster. It makes you wonder if there’s actual strategy happening or if it’s just a sentimental free-for-all.

The steal of the night, though, was Snoop Dogg snagging Jeremy Beloate from Team Bublé. Beloate lost to Sofronio Vasquez but clearly made an impression. This was the kind of shrewd move that keeps things interesting, even when the actual performances are hit or miss. Snoop also advanced Alyiah Khaylyn and Mikaela Ayira.

Other winners advancing to the Playoffs include Sofronio Vasquez from Team Bublé. Which, again, happy birthday, Michael. You’ve got a decent contender there.

The departed this week include Chrisdeo, Georgia Starnes, Kiara Vega, Mary McAvoy, Tate Renner, and Torre Blake. Farewell, contestants we hardly knew ye.

Let’s not forget the mentors. Sting graced Team Snoop and Team Gwen with his presence, while Jennifer Hudson lent her wisdom to Team Michael and Team Reba. It’s always a little weird when the mentors are more famous than the coaches, but hey, it’s The Voice.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
