The cast of the BBC crime drama This City is Ours is expanding for its second season, with Shaun Evans and Álvaro Morte joining the series. Filming is now underway on the new season of the show, which was the BBC’s most-watched new drama launch of the year.

Evans, known for his lead role in Endeavour, has been cast as Ozzie Thompson, a former gangster recently released from prison. Morte, who starred in Money Heist, will play Felipe Guzman, a member of a Colombian cartel whose brother Ricardo was murdered at the end of the first season.

The new season will find Michael Kavanagh (James Nelson-Joyce) and his partner Diana Williams (Hannah Onslow) pulled back to Liverpool from Spain to face questions about Ricardo’s death. Their return coincides with rising tensions among the gang and the appearance of Evans’ character, who seeks compensation from the firm once run by Ronnie Phelan.
