TNA IMPACT! is taking a victory lap. Or at least a half-lap, since this is just “Part 1” of their “Best of 2024” compilation. Sure, it’s a clip show, but even the most jaded wrestling aficionado might find something to appreciate in this year-end retrospective. Airing Thursday, December 19 at 8 PM on AXS TV, it’s a chance to relive some of the year’s most brutal chair shots, high-flying maneuvers, and questionable promos.
What can you anticipate? Well, some actual wrestling, for one. The episode plans to feature highlights from matches including Jordynne Grace vs. Trinity, Josh Alexander vs. Will Ospreay, and ABC vs. The System. Whether these selections represent the best of the year is, of course, a matter of fan debate, but at least they’re giving us some in-ring action amid the inevitable parade of talking heads and award presentations.
Because yes, it wouldn’t be a “Best of” special without some self-congratulatory hardware. The episode will unveil the winners of TNA’s annual awards, including Knockout of the Year, Tag Team of the Year, and the ever-elusive Moment of the Year (which hopefully wasn’t a botched finish or a microphone malfunction). They’re also naming the “One to Watch” in 2025, which could be a genuine hint at rising stars or a way to push someone management is particularly fond of.
Whether this nostalgia trip is a worthwhile use of your Thursday night depends on your tolerance for recapped glory. It could offer a decent sampler platter of TNA’s past year, or it could be a glorified pat on the back. Either way, it’s probably better than watching another tedious contract signing segment.
