Apple TV+’s real-time thriller series “Hijack” has commenced production on its highly anticipated second season in the UK, and with that comes the exciting announcement of three new cast additions: Toby Jones, Lisa Vicari, and Christiane Paul, who join the series’ star, Idris Elba.
Jones, a BAFTA winner known for his performance in “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” brings his impeccable credentials to the show. Vicari, who starred in the enigmatic series “Dark,” and Paul, an International Emmy winner currently appearing in “FBI: International,” further bolster the series’ impressive roster of talent.
Created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, “Hijack” premiered on June 28, 2023, to solid acclaim. The seven-episode first season, with its unique real-time format, represented each hour of a hijacked flight from Dubai to London. The show became the second Apple TV+ series to break into Nielsen’s weekly top 10 streaming chart (the other is Ted Lasso), solidifying its place as a must-watch thriller.
Elba reprises his role as Sam Nelson, a corporate negotiator who finds himself in a hijacked aircraft, using his skills to navigate the intense situation.
Details of the upcoming season’s plot are being carefully guarded, but the expansion of the cast and the return of key characters indicate a broader scope and an even more unpredictable narrative.
Season one is available on Apple TV+.
