Nine’s morning show lineup is getting a shakeup with two major appointments. Sports journalist Danika Mason joins Today as Sports Presenter, while award-winning journalist Alison Piotrowski takes on the co-host role at Weekend Today.

Here’s the Lowdown: Danika Mason, known for her work on 9News, The Sunday Footy Show, and NRL coverage, will now present sports news on Today, working alongside Sarah Abo, Karl Stefanovic, Jayne Azzopardi, and Tim Davies. Alison Piotrowski, a former US Correspondent for Nine, will co-host Weekend Today with Clint Stanaway, Lizzie Pearl, and Dan Anstey.

What This Means Now: Today viewers will get their sports updates from Mason starting next week, while she continues her NRL commentary. Weekend Today gets an experienced journalist in Piotrowski, who has reported on major global events, including the recent US election.

The Bigger Picture: These appointments show Nine’s commitment to strengthening its morning news programs. Mason’s sports expertise and Piotrowski’s broad journalistic experience are set to add value to each show, with the latter’s background in major investigations and international reporting likely to bring a new edge. The Today Show airs on weekdays from 5.30am, with Weekend Today airing at weekends from 7am, both are available on Channel 9 and 9Now.
