The final episode of “Tony Armstrong’s Extra-Ordinary Things” airs on ABC Australia on Tuesday, 18 June. In this episode Tony Armstrong concludes his exploration of Australia’s history and culture through seemingly ordinary objects.

Tony begins by examining a couple of silk sashes, which hold special significance for Pageant royalty. These sashes transport them back to the 1968 Grafton Jacaranda Queen Quest and also reveal the making of history in this year’s Quest.

He then uncovers the story behind a photo of a jazz musician, which leads him to discover a groundbreaking dance club for Perth’s Aboriginal community. The episode also includes a harrowing account of survival during Darwin’s devastating Cyclone Tracy, as told through the presence of a trunk.
