Broadway’s biggest night is expanding its footprint across platforms this year, with Pluto TV set to stream the Tony Awards pre-show live and free ahead of the main event’s return to CBS and Paramount+.
Darren Criss, a first-time Tony nominee this year for his role in Maybe Happy Ending, will co-host The Tony Awards: Act One alongside Tony and Grammy winner Renée Elise Goldsberry, whose debut album Who I Really Am drops in June. The pre-show streams live Sunday, June 8 from 6:40-8:00 PM ET / 3:40-5:00 PM PT on Pluto TV via the “Live Music” channel.
This marks the first time the pre-show has been made widely accessible on a free platform, allowing fans early access to select category wins and exclusive backstage content before the official ceremony begins.
The main event—The 78th Annual Tony Awards—follows from 8:00-11:00 PM ET / 5:00-8:00 PM PT, airing live on CBS and streaming simultaneously on Paramount+. Cynthia Erivo, a Tony, Grammy, and Emmy winner and three-time Oscar nominee, will emcee the ceremony live from Radio City Music Hall.
The Tony Awards telecast is produced by Tony Award Productions (a joint venture of the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League) and White Cherry Entertainment. Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss return as executive producers and showrunners, with Weiss also directing.
