Bravo’s “Top Chef” returns to Montreal this Thursday with an episode that blends high-end culinary skills with the unexpected charm of convenience store cuisine. In “From Dep Till Dawn,” comedian Punkie Johnson guest stars, bringing her signature humor to a pair of challenges that will test the chefs’ creativity and resourcefulness.
First, the chefs must create a dish using only ingredients found in a quintessential Canadian convenience store, known affectionately as a “dep.” Think gas station gourmet – but with “Top Chef” level execution. Then, it’s off to the rooftop gardens of Montreal, where the chefs must create dishes inspired by the four seasons, utilizing only the fresh produce available.
