Twelve chefs enter, but only some will remain. “Tournament of Champions” continues its sixth season with another cutthroat qualifying round. This week, the culinary contenders face a gauntlet of challenges, beginning with the dreaded blind taste test, judged by previous TOC winners. Can they discern the subtle nuances of a dish without knowing its creator?
More importantly, can they stomach the judgment of their champion peers? Following this palate-cleansing exercise, the remaining chefs will be thrust into cook-offs, the parameters of which are determined by the show’s infamous randomizer.
This chaotic device has been known to produce truly bizarre culinary combinations, forcing chefs to think on their feet and demonstrate their adaptability under pressure. Only those who can conquer both the randomizer and their opponents will move on to the main tournament.
“Tournament of Champions” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Food Network.
