Chicago P.D. is making another change inside Intelligence. According to a Deadline report, Toya Turner, who joined the NBC drama at the start of Season 12, will not return for Season 13.
Turner played Officer Kiana Cook, a fresh addition to Sergeant Voight’s team who quickly found her footing in a unit known for pushing limits. Her one-season run ends as production gears up for the show’s fall return, and the exit leaves a notable vacancy inside the squad.
The timing raises immediate questions about the makeup of the team going forward. With Voight, played by Jason Beghe, already dealing with shifting alliances and mounting internal pressures, Cook’s departure signals another disruption to his command structure. There’s no official word yet on who might step into the gap, but NBC has a long history of introducing new blood when the team starts to thin.
Turner acknowledged her departure in a farewell message, reflecting on the growth she experienced during her time on the procedural. The role marked a high-profile network turn for the actress, who previously starred in Netflix’s Warrior Nun. She also thanked the cast and crew for their support, citing a work environment full of “warmth and laughter.”
Cook’s storyline was still developing when Season 12 wrapped, which suggests the writers will either write her out off-screen or deliver a fast early exit at the start of the new season. Either way, it’s a reset that could bring new dynamics to a cast that already includes Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton, and Benjamin Levy Aguilar.
NBC has yet to confirm a premiere date for Season 13, but the series remains one of the anchor titles in the One Chicago franchise. Turner’s exit is the latest move in a season of quiet reshuffling across the procedural lineup.
