Tracker Season 2 Episode 13 Recap: “Neptune”

CBS’s Tracker delivered another high-octane hour of cat-and-mouse espionage this week with “Neptune.” When Colter is hired to find missing person Clare Dillard, who vanished from a New York City dressing room, it initially seems like a routine case. But as anyone familiar with this show knows, nothing is ever routine for long.

Colter’s investigation quickly uncovers a nest of vipers: Clare’s workplace wasn’t a fashion house but a covert government agency, and her “coworkers,” it turns out, are mostly dead. This revelation throws gasoline on an already burning case, transforming a simple missing person search into something far more complicated.

Meanwhile, Randy’s digital sleuthing lands him in hot water. His decision to hack a government black site to assist Colter has serious repercussions, cutting him off from his usual tech wizardry and forcing him to rely on Reenie’s network of contacts. The clock keeps ticking as they try to piece together Clare’s disappearance and the trail of bodies in her wake.

Then, Clare’s husband, Logan, gets caught in the crossfire, becoming a pawn in a deadly game. Clare reveals herself to be a spy embedded deep in the world of counter-terrorism, trying to expose a mole within the agency. This mole, a woman named Eileen, has her sights set on selling a satellite weapon to the highest bidder, raising the stakes to global proportions.

The episode culminates in a tense standoff. Colter rescues Logan, who gets a bullet courtesy of Eileen’s goons, while Clare is forced to make a dangerous play. She arranges a meeting with Eileen in a very public setting—a move designed to give her a chance to take control. After gaining access to the satellite weapon, Clare is cornered but manages to turn the tables thanks to Colter’s well-timed arrival. Both Clare and Logan live to see another day, though the lies between them seem to have fractured their relationship.

“Neptune” leaves us with a cryptic note. Colter receives correspondence from Deputy Director Bartholomew. Is it a thank you for saving the day or a thinly veiled threat? Like so many things in the world of Tracker, it’s hard to say for sure. Tracker airs Sundays at 8 PM ET on CBS.
