Tracker Season 2 Episode 15 Recap: “The Grey Goose”

Tracker Key Art

Tracker” delivered a tense, by-the-numbers thriller this week with “The Grey Goose,” an episode that leaned heavily on the classic escaped convict trope – but with a few twists courtesy of Colter Shaw’s unorthodox methods. When Justine, a lifer doing time for a botched robbery, makes a break for it during a hospital transfer, the clock starts ticking. And the stakes get personal when she takes Rachel Sherwood hostage, the niece of none other than Detective Helen Brock.

Brock, despite her department’s general distaste for bounty hunters and reward-seekers like Colter, is forced to swallow her pride and deputize him. Family comes first, after all. Colter, never one to shy away from a complicated situation, quickly pieces together that Justine isn’t working alone. Her escape involves inside help, a network of favors being called in from within the prison walls. He also deduces that Justine’s destination is likely a hidden bunker stocked with cash and weapons, a pitstop on the way to the border.

Enter Billie Matalon (Sofia Pernas), a fellow reward-chaser brought in by Colter for a particularly tricky assignment: going undercover in the women’s prison to find Justine’s accomplice. It’s a dangerous gamble, but one that pays off as Billie starts to uncover the web of connections facilitating Justine’s escape plan.

“The Grey Goose” sets up a familiar but effective cat-and-mouse game. With Justine holed up with her hostage and plotting her next move, Colter, Billie, and Brock must work together to unravel the conspiracy and bring her to justice before she disappears for good.

“Tracker” airs Sundays at 10/9c on CBS.
