Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw usually chases missing persons, but this week’s Tracker threw him a curveball – a furry one named Barkley. What began as a simple encounter with a lost dog at a dusty gas station quickly spiraled into a complicated case involving a home invasion, stolen African artifacts, and a desperate family.
Barkley, more than just a cute, cuddly companion, became Colter’s unexpected partner. The dog’s keen sense of smell proved invaluable, leading Colter not only to a kidnapped wife but also to a hidden cache of priceless artifacts. Who needs high-tech gadgets when you’ve got a four-legged tracking device with a wet nose and wagging tail?
“Man’s Best Friend” offered a refreshing twist on Tracker’s usual missing-person procedural. It highlighted Colter’s adaptability, showing him as comfortable facing off against hardened criminals as he is comforting a worried child. The episode also underlined the emotional core beneath Colter’s rugged exterior, especially in his interactions with Aidan (Aiden Stoxx), Barkley’s young owner. Their bond added a touch of heartwarming sentimentality to the otherwise tense narrative.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Tracker without a dose of action. Colter’s resourcefulness and combat skills were on full display as he tackled the master criminal behind the artifact theft and the subsequent hostage situation. The addition of Nate (Dylan Bruce), a former service member with a mysterious agenda, brought another dimension to the plot, testing Colter’s usually reliable instincts.
Tracker airs Sundays at 10/9c on CBS.
