“Traffic Cops” returns to 5, bringing viewers a front-row seat to the high-octane world of highway patrol. This episode features cloned vehicles, stolen caravans, disqualified drivers, and more than a few surprises along the way.
Following a tip-off about a cloned car possibly linked to a string of car key burglaries, officers engage in a tense pursuit, successfully puncturing the suspect vehicle’s tires and apprehending two individuals after a brief foot chase through a field. A subsequent search uncovers a veritable “burglar’s starter kit” – tools of the trade for breaking into homes and vehicles.
Elsewhere on the M1, a routine stop of a disqualified driver with a history of violent offences reveals a flick knife and hammer, turning a simple traffic stop into something far more serious. And just when you think things are slowing down, the Traffic Cops utilize a tracker to locate a stolen caravan, returning it to its relieved owner within an hour.
Hosted by Jamie Theakston, “Traffic Cops” provides context and background to the challenges faced by law enforcement on Derbyshire’s busy roads. With around 4,000 caravans stolen annually in the UK, their quick recovery is a win for both the owner and the police. Tune in to 5 on Monday, March 31 at 8:00 PM to see how these officers keep the roads safe and bring criminals to justice.
