Netflix is diving back into the conspiracy thriller space with Trinity, a new original drama from Jed Mercurio, the creator behind Bodyguard and Line of Duty.
The series will reunite Mercurio with Richard Madden, who led the BBC’s breakout political hit Bodyguard. This time, he stars opposite Gugu Mbatha-Raw in what’s being positioned as another high-stakes story involving loyalty, power, and deception inside the halls of government.
Trinity follows a decorated Naval officer who finds herself pulled into the orbit of a rising political star, the Secretary of Defense. Their bond becomes a point of fascination, and then danger, as the officer uncovers threads that may link her new ally to a deep and dangerous conspiracy.
While plot specifics are still being kept quiet, the premise points toward the same brand of tension and misdirection that made Bodyguard one of the most-watched UK dramas in a decade. That show helped catapult Madden to international recognition and picked up a Golden Globe in the process. Trinity marks the first on-screen pairing between Madden and Mbatha-Raw, both of whom have earned acclaim for their dramatic turns in espionage and prestige drama.
No premiere date has been announced, and production details remain under wraps.
Trinity adds to Netflix’s growing push into premium UK drama with international appeal, a lane that includes titles like Treason, The Diplomat, and The Night Agent.
