Sky History’s “Truthseekers” returns Tuesday night, exploring the story of one of history’s most enigmatic figures: Mary Magdalene. Often portrayed in popular culture as a repentant sinner, this episode aims to go beyond the biblical depictions, examining Mary Magdalene’s true role in the early days of Christianity.
Mary Magdalene was a devoted follower of Jesus, witnessing both his crucifixion and, crucially, his resurrection. In fact, she is considered by some Christian traditions as the “apostle to the apostles,” the first to bear witness to Christ’s rising and to spread the news to his disciples. “Truthseekers” examines the historical context surrounding Mary Magdalene’s life, separating fact from fiction and offering a deeper understanding of her significance.
