In a world where bingo nights and pudding cups usually reign supreme, “Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living” is about to get a digital makeover. Tuesday’s episode, “The Spark,” finds Anastasia’s reputation going up in flames, not from a kitchen mishap, but from the inferno of social media. It seems our girl needs a reputation reboot, and who better to call than the resident tech wizard, Sandra?
Sandra is tasked with polishing Anastasia’s online image. A social media campaign is launched, presumably involving more than just filtered photos of Jell-O molds and inspirational quotes about fiber. But just as things start looking up, a digital grenade explodes. A rival from Anastasia’s acting past decides to wage a smear campaign. This should be fun.
Think of it as a geriatric “Mean Girls” scenario, but with fewer hair-pulling incidents and more misplaced dentures. “The Spark” seems ripe for the kind of sitcom shenanigans the show does best. Will Sandra’s tech skills be enough to combat the online trolls? Will Anastasia emerge from this digital duel with her dignity intact? Or will this whole thing devolve into a chaotic mess of hashtags and misspelled insults? We are betting on the latter, especially if Mr. Brown gets involved. One can only imagine the kind of “wisdom” he might impart on the younger generation about the evils of the internet.
“The Spark” airs Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 9:30 PM on BET.
