UKTV’s leading crime drama channel, Alibi, is joining forces with Welsh language broadcaster S4C and All3Media International to bring viewers a brand-new legal crime drama series, “Mudtown.” The six-part series, produced by Severn Screen, has already begun filming in both English and Welsh language versions.

Written by the exciting new writing duo of Hannah Daniel (“Keeping Faith,” “Holby City”) and Georgia Lee, a Magistrate herself, “Mudtown” centres on the life of experienced Magistrate Claire Lewis Jones as she navigates personal turmoil while presiding over cases at Newport’s Magistrates Court. The series promises to deliver a fresh lens on crime and the local legal profession.

Erin Richards (“Gotham,” “The Crown”) takes the lead as Claire Lewis Jones, alongside a stellar cast including Tom Cullen (“The Gold,” “Becoming Elizabeth”), Matthew Gravelle (“Broadchurch,” “Steeltown Murders”), Lauren Morais (“The Red King“), Lloyd Meredith (“The Red King,” “Gran Turismo”), and Kimberly Nixon (“The Salisbury Poisonings,” “Life and Death in the Warehouse”).

In “Mudtown,” Claire Lewis Jones’s world is turned upside down when Ned Humphries, a childhood friend of her daughter Beca, faces arson charges. As if that weren’t enough, the appearance of local criminal kingpin Saint Pete, an old acquaintance, complicates matters further. As Claire investigates and suspicions grow around her daughter’s new boyfriend, she uncovers a web of criminal activity that hits close to home.

As the lines between right and wrong blur, Claire finds herself in a difficult position, her maternal instincts clashing with her commitment to uphold the law.
