Husband and wife team Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg are set to co-host a new special on Investigation Discovery, titled VERY SCARY LOVERS, premiering Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 10 PM ET/PT. Their shared interest in true crime will guide audiences through a disturbing case of a couple whose relationship took a deadly turn.

The one-hour special examines the story of Benjamin and Erika Sifrit, known as “The Thrill Kill Couple.” What began as an apparent all-American romance between a decorated Navy Seal and a college athlete with law aspirations devolved into a shared obsession with risk, violence and murder. The program, which is hosted, narrated, and executive produced by the Wahlbergs, presents a look at the couple’s relationship.

The Sifrits’ descent into criminal activity is charted through first-person accounts and archival footage. The program aims to examine how their twisted partnership led to cold-blooded murder.

The premiere of VERY SCARY LOVERS follows the season finale of VERY SCARY PEOPLE, also hosted and executive produced by Donnie Wahlberg, which airs at 8 PM ET/PT. The finale episode, “The Angel of Death,” will explore the crimes of Dana Sue Gray. This serial killer targeted affluent women in a California town, with the case taking a turn when a family member realized that the killer was in fact her own stepdaughter. Law enforcement then moved to stop Gray before she could strike again.
