Sky Documentaries will premiere this March the Formula One documentary “Villeneuve Pironi: Racing’s Untold Tragedy“.
The story of their rise to fame and ultimate downfall during that infamous and tragic 1982 Formula One season is revealed in great detail through captivating archive footage, interviews with Formula One World Champions Jacques Villeneuve, Alain Prost, and Sir Jackie Stewart, as well as the Villeneuve and Pironi families and their F1 and Ferrari contemporaries.
Pironi “stole” the San Marino Grand Prix victory from his teammate and close friend Villeneuve on the final lap, in the midst of the most dangerous era in the history of modern racing.
The tragic tale of two of the fastest racers in history, their brief and violently entwined lives, and the emotional scars still felt by their closest loved ones today can be found in Villeneuve Pironi: Racing’s Untold Tragedy.
It’s an inspiring film that delves into themes of love, sorrow, and legacy within the context of a sport in which dedication triumphs against apprehension.
The documentary will premiere in the United Kingdom at the Glasgow Film Festival on March 5 at the Glasgow Film Theatre, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Torquil Jones, and will air on Sky Documentaries on March 19.
VILLENEUVE PIRONI: RACING’S UNTOLD TRAGEDY is produced by Noah media in association with Sky studios.
