Another round of blind auditions, another batch of singers belting their hearts out, hoping to snag a spot on a team. “The Voice” Season 27 continues its talent search, and this episode didn’t disappoint, offering up the usual mix of four-chair turns, strategic blocks, and at least one contestant with a…unique side hustle.
Divighn, a 33-year-old Californian, kicked things off with “I Got You (Feel Good),” a song choice as smooth as his vocals. After some classic coach banter, he landed on Team Bublé. Jacquelyn George, a 27-year-old from Tennessee, took on the daunting task of a Whitney Houston song, “I Have Nothing,” and not only survived, but thrived. She even shared a duet of “Ordinary People” with John Legend before, predictably, joining his team.
Tinika Wyatt, a 50-year-old pastor and marriage counselor, initially seemed headed for the also-rans, failing to turn any chairs. But an impromptu a cappella performance snagged her a spot on Team Adam via the retroactive button. Adam continued his winning streak by also picking up Conor James, a 28-year-old from Massachusetts, after his four-chair turn performance of “Say A Little Prayer For You.”
Kelsea Ballerini added Page Mackenzie, a 32-year-old bicycle bus driver from Nashville, and Jessica Manalo, a 31-year-old guitarist from Las Vegas, to her team. Michael Bublé, meanwhile, welcomed Barry Jean Fontenot, a 31-year-old swordsman from Louisiana, proving that sometimes, talent comes with a very sharp edge.
In a twist, Adam blocked Kelsea to secure Tyler Kae, a 22-year-old taxidermist from Washington, for his team. BD.ii, a 31-year-old from Virginia, also earned a four-chair turn and chose John Legend, even after Kelsea attempted to block Adam. Not everyone had a triumphant night though: Johnny Rey and Afina Maddian both failed to turn any chairs.
“The Voice” airs Mondays at 8/7c on NBC.
