Sherlock Holmes’ former sidekick, Dr. John Watson, tackles a decidedly unusual case in this week’s episode of Watson. A man arrives at the hospital with a bullet in his head, an apparent gunshot wound that, miraculously, hasn’t proven fatal. But the real mystery isn’t the bullet; it’s the patient’s unshakeable belief that he’s a Scottish soldier. Something doesn’t add up, and Watson, with his keen eye for detail honed by years of shadowing the world’s greatest detective, is determined to uncover the truth.
As if a time-traveling, amnesiac soldier weren’t enough to contend with, Watson also finds himself grappling with more personal matters. He seeks information on his estranged wife, Mary, a plot thread that adds a touch of soap opera to the medical mystery.
Meanwhile, Ingrid, a member of Watson’s team, finds herself under the microscope after Watson calls her bluff. He knows she’s lying, and she knows he knows. The question is, can she figure out how he knows before he figures out what she’s hiding? It’s a game of cat and mouse, played out in the sterile hallways of a modern hospital, with a dash of 18th-century cosplay thrown in for good measure.
Watson airs Sundays at 10/9c on CBS.
