Staten Island’s most eccentric residents find themselves in a predicament stickier than a centuries-old bloodstain. In “Come Out And Play,” the ninth episode of “What We Do in the Shadows”‘ sixth season, our vampire gang faces a rather serious accusation: murder. It seems a casual get-together of New York’s vampire elite has taken a decidedly deadly turn, and Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, and Colin Robinson are the prime suspects. Who knew a night of immortal socializing could lead to such mortal consequences?
One might think being undead offers a certain immunity to legal troubles, but apparently not in the world of “Shadows.” This development throws a bat-shaped wrench into the vampires’ otherwise mundane (if you can call centuries of blood-drinking mundane) existence. Suddenly, proving their innocence becomes a top priority, even more pressing than securing the freshest bag of O-positive or trimming Laszlo’s prized vulva topiary.
The episode will likely revolve around the vampires’ increasingly desperate – and undoubtedly hilarious – attempts to clear their names and skedaddle back to the safety of their Staten Island mansion. While the show often embraces absurdity, there’s a certain thrill in seeing how these supernatural goofballs handle real-world (or, well, real-vampire-world) problems. It’s a test of their cunning, their alliances, and perhaps even their (mostly non-existent) moral compasses.
“Come Out And Play” was written by Shana Gohd and Paul Simms and directed by DJ Stipsen. Beanie Feldstein as Jenna, Harvey Guillen as Guillermo, Kayvan Novak as Nandor, Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson, Matt Berry as Lazslo, and Natasia Demetriou as Nadja star.
“What We Do in the Shadows” airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
