So, here we are at the gateway to the series finale of What We Do in the Shadows, an event some might find surprising given how frequently these Staten Island vampires seem to flirt with self-destruction (and how rarely FX seems to let shows reach six seasons these days). “The Finale,” airing Monday, poses a big question: What fresh hell awaits Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, and Colin Robinson in this, the eleventh episode of an unusually long season? And is Guillermo, forever on the cusp of vampirism but stuck in familiar servitude, finally going to snap?
Well, your guess is as good as mine on that last one, although the smart money would place a sizable wager on the “no” side of that proposition. This season has toyed with the idea of Guillermo embracing (or being forcibly embraced by) his vampiric destiny, but the show thrives on his eternally frustrated state.
“The Finale” apparently features a plot twist significant enough that our immortal housemates are forced to make alternate arrangements. This could mean anything from a burnt dinner to a full-scale supernatural real estate crisis. Knowing this show, it probably involves something uncomfortably sticky, possibly involving bodily fluids best left unmentioned.
What We Do in the Shadows airs Mondays at 10 pm on FX.
The episode is written by Sam Johnson, Sarah Naftalis, and Paul Simms. Directed by Yana Gorskaya.
