ABC’s “What Would You Do?” returns this Wednesday with a fresh batch of ethically challenging scenarios designed to make viewers squirm – and maybe examine their own moral compasses. This time, the show sets its hidden cameras in a beauty salon, a family restaurant, and on a busy city street, capturing unsuspecting bystanders as they’re confronted with some awkward, and sometimes criminal, situations.
In one scenario, salon customers face a barrage of inappropriate questions from their stylist. Will they speak up, or suffer in silence? Another setup finds a couple clashing with a single mom whose kids are, shall we say, less than well-behaved. Will anyone intervene, or will the situation escalate? Finally, the show tackles the always-thorny issue of theft, staging a laptop snatching in broad daylight. Will anyone try to stop the thief, or will they simply look the other way?
As always, host John Quiñones observes the action from behind the scenes, offering his commentary on the choices people make – or don’t make – when faced with these real-life dilemmas. “What Would You Do?” often reveals the gap between what we think we’d do and how we actually behave, making for some uncomfortable, but always compelling, television. And don’t miss the “What Would Kids Do?” segment, which offers a refreshingly honest perspective on these grown-up problems.
Tune in to ABC this Wednesday, April 16th at 10:00 PM ET/PT to see how ordinary people react when put to the test.
