Wicked Tuna

Get ready for an exciting bonus episode of Wicked Tuna titled “Extra Reel: Last Chance for Chatham,” airing on Sunday, April 7 at 8:00 PM on National Geographic.

In the fifth episode of Wicked Tuna’s 13th season, the focus shifts back to the waters of Chatham, a small fishing village in Cape Cod known for its beaches and great white sharks. With the season drawing to a close, the fishermen face their last chance to capitalise on the southern waters.

The episode sees the return of the Hot Tuna boat, whose crew boasts a powerful 350hp x2 motor setup, reducing their travel time to a mere few hours. This advantage is crucial, as the high fuel costs of the lengthy trips to and from Chatham have been a significant point of discussion among viewers this season.

While some boats, like the Wicked Pissah, continue to chase the bite in the south, others, such as the Pinwheel and No Limits, change their strategies in an attempt to reverse their misfortune. The all-female No Limits crew, in particular, faces challenges as they beg for basic equipment from their competitors, raising questions about their preparedness.

The episode also highlights the ongoing rivalry between captains and the forming of alliances, with some boats working together locally while others choose to go solo. As the season nears its end, the pressure intensifies, and the fishermen strive to make the most of their last chances to land a profitable catch. As it’s an extra reel edition this episode also features plenty of extra bits.

Wicked Tuna’s 13th season sees the fishermen of Gloucester, Massachusetts, navigating uncertain waters due to economic challenges and low demand. The competition is fierce as they pursue lucrative bluefin tuna, with each “monstah” fish potentially earning them more than $20,000. The fishermen must adapt to changing market conditions and strict regulations while also dealing with the challenges of boat maintenance and equipment shortages.
