Channel 5’s Wife on Strike returns with its fourth episode, this time featuring the stories of Sam and Gary, and Simone and Michael. The episode airs on Sunday, 4 August 2024, at 9:00 pm.
In this episode, we meet Sam and Gary, a couple who met in the police force over 20 years ago. At 60, Gary is a self-proclaimed “big softie” and a father who has always wanted the best for his children. However, his indulgent attitude towards his teenage daughters may have backfired, as they struggle with independence and household responsibilities.
Sam, who works full-time and handles all the housework, decides to go on a strike to teach Gary and their daughters a lesson. As Gary attempts to manage the household in Sam’s absence, he realizes the extent of her workload and the mess created by his daughters.
Meanwhile, the episode also focuses on Simone and her partner, Michael, who share a home with their daughter, Mia. Michael’s messiness and hobby of collecting various items have pushed Simone to her breaking point, leading her to joke about moving into a granny annexe in the garden.
Michael, an ex-chef, loves cooking elaborate meals, but his cooking style often results in a mess that Simone can’t stand. As the strike unfolds, Michael’s initial laughter turns to anger, and he struggles to understand Simone’s perspective.
